Gov. Inslee announces vaccination incentives

Today, Gov. Inslee announced a vaccination incentive program — “Shot of a Lifetime.” During June, the state will have a giveaway series with prizes including lottery cash drawings, higher education tuition and expense assistance, sports tickets and gear, gift cards and plane tickets.

The incentive program aims to get the percentage of Washington’s 16+ population up to 70% initiating vaccination before June 30, thus allowing an early full reopening. Currently, 63% of people over 16 in the state have initiated vaccination. To track progression of vaccination numbers, I made a graph that will be updated as numbers increase toward June 30. You can read the World's full story on the new program here

Do you think the incentive program will make the state more likely to reach the 70% threshold early? What do you think of the idea of vaccine incentives?

Chelan County currently has 64% of the 16+ population initiating vaccinations. Douglas County has 57% and the state has 63%.
